En 1977, les studios de la Shaw Brothers, qui abreuvent les écrans du monde entier de wu-xia pan et de films de kung-fu, commencent à marquer un léger recul. Il faut dire que les films d’un certain Bruce Lee sont passés par là et ont donné envie au public de quelque chose de nouveau et de plus dynamique. C’est donc à partir de cette époque que la Shaw va commencer à se diversifier. L’année précédente, le King Kong de John Guillermin s’est révélé un succès mondial. Sir Runme Shaw va donc décider de surfer sur cette vague et lancer en production un remake : The Mighty Peking Man.

"Paranoia Agent" est une série télévisée animée japonaise créée en 2004 par le réalisateur Satoshi Kon et produite au sein du studio Madhouse. La série suit plusieurs personnages autour d'une enquête menée par deux inspecteurs de police pour mettre un terme aux attaques de plus en plus fréquentes et violentes d'un enfant mystérieux et insaisissable qui se déplace en rollers et que les medias surnomment le Gamin à la Batte. Au cours de leur investigation, les deux policiers vont voir leurs croyances remises en question et la réalité s'effriter - littéralement - autour d'eux.

A while back, I saw "Payback" by Brian Helgeland, the crime flick with Mel Gibson in theaters. I liked the movie. I thought it was dark and cool. It had a cool anti-hero, lots of gunfights and a very unusual storyline.
I thought the writers of the film were geniuses. How wrong I was!
Il y a quelque temps, j´ai vu au cinéma "Payback" de Brian Helgeland, un polar avec Mel Gibson. J´ai aimé le film. J´ai pensé qu´il était sombre et cool. Il était noir, il avait un anti-héros cool, des fusillades et un scénario très inhabituel.
J´ai pensé que les scénaristes du film étaient des génies. Comme je m´étais trompé!

Like rock, jazz has seen a lot of musicians dying young like Charlie Parker or Charlie Christian. But most of them became very famous. That was not the case for Emily Remler who died at 32. She was a truly exceptional guitarist who studied in the Berklee School and then succeeded in making her own place in the very male orientated world of jazz guitar.
